As a complement to one-to-one services, YCS provides additional support for low-income families, newcomers and individuals with disabilities through a variety of Group Programs which focus on education, skills development and social support. Vietnamese Support Group: a monthly program provides discussion and presentations on health, legal and social issues as well as fostering a broad social support network and celebration of Canadian and Vietnamese culture. Spanish Community Kitchen: a weekly program provides peer support and opportunity to cook and sell nutritious meals. Extras are taken home for the family. 101 Humber Lunch Program: a monthly lunch program offers educational presentation and social activity for seniors and other residents in a Toronto Community Housing development. Topics focus on personal health, nutrition, community safety and planning for the future. Latin American Parenting Group: a weekly program offers discussion, peer support and presentations to address parenting skills, social and health issues. Main concerns are healthy child development, constructive parenting, family violence issues and social support. Art Beat: two weekly art class provide opportunities for artistic learning and self-expression for adults with developmental disabilities. An annual exhibition gives artists the opportunity to meet the public and sell their work. APS Social Club: a monthly program offers social or recreational activity for clients with developmental disabilities to help break isolation, encourage communication skills and learn about personal safety.
Organic Community Garden: a weekly program emphasizes healthy physical activity, opportunity to plant and grow vegetables in five shared garden plots, discussion of environmental protection and opportunitites for social activity.
