The YCS Crisis Intervention and Counselling Access Program offers crisis intervention, information/referral and brief support services, on a drop-in basis as well as by appointment. The program provides quick assessment and rapid intervention to individuals and families who do not typically access traditional counselling services, particularly poor, immigrant populations who do not have strong English language skills. The program is geared to those at high risk due to poverty, disability, isolation, low levels of education, lack of social supports, violent relationships, discrimination or barriers such as language. Individuals requesting crisis services include those who are homeless, suicidal or seriously ill; experiencing spousal abuse, depression, settlement difficulties or family breakdown; or dealing with other significant emotional, financial or health-related issues.
