In close co-operation with YCS, New Heights CHCs operates a satellite Diabetes Education Centre at York Community Services. Open two days a week, the centre offers support to individuals who have diabetes or are at risk of the disease. A nurse and dietician provide one-to-one appointments and weekly classes. 

Individual sessions and group classes provide the following information:

• Diabetes management
• Healthy eating
• How to prevent complications
• Stress management
• Foot care
• Physical activity
• Blood glucose monitoring
• Medication management
• Staying healthy

Monthly sessions are also scheduled for people at high risk of developing diabetes.
